One person is much louder than the other — how do I even them out?
Set the clip volume for each speaker in the editor. Cast normalises the finished episode as a whole at export, which fixes how loud the show is overall but not the balance between two voices inside it — that part is per clip, and it is quick when each person is on their own track.
Two microphones almost never arrive at the same level, and export loudness will not rescue it: matching the whole episode to a target moves both voices together, so a quiet guest stays quiet relative to a loud host.
The fix is the clip volume. If each speaker was recorded to a separate file, every clip of theirs moves together and it takes a minute. If both are on one track, split at the speaker changes first, then adjust — the transcript makes those changes easy to see.
Two things make it easier next time. Set the gain so both people peak in the same region before you record, and enhance the quiet voice rather than simply turning it up: raising a quiet recording raises its room noise with it, while the speech enhancer lifts the voice and not the room.
We do not yet balance speakers automatically — it is on the list, and the honest answer today is that it is a manual step.
