Can an agent spend my credits?
Only if you let it. When you connect an assistant, the Cast page has a "Let it spend credits" box, unticked by default; tokens you create yourself have the same switch. Even switched on, every paid step quotes the price first and only spends when the agent confirms that exact quote — so a well-behaved assistant asks you before paying.
A read-and-edit token does everything that is free in the app: transcribe, analyse, plan cuts, enhance voice, pick music you already own, build the project, export within your plan. It cannot buy anything.
A spending token adds First Pass previews and whole-episode edits, and generated full-length music — the same prices you see in the app. The quote-then-confirm step is enforced by the Cast MCP server, not by the assistant's good manners: the first call returns a price and a quote id, and nothing is charged until a second call carries that id back.
Stopped trusting a tool? Revoke its token in Settings → API & MCP and it stops working — the assistant has to connect and be approved again. Tokens expire after a year regardless.
How do I stop an agent spending my credits?
Leave "Let it spend credits" unticked when you approve it — that is the default, and the same switch exists on tokens you create in Settings. Such a connection can still do everything that is free: transcribe, analyse, plan the cuts, build the project and export within your plan. Paid steps come back as a refusal with the price, so the agent can tell you what it would cost instead of quietly charging you.
If a token already exists and you want it stopped, revoke it in Settings → API & MCP. It stops working straight away.
