There is a click or a cut-off breath where I deleted a word
A click at a join means the cut landed mid-waveform. Cast already fades a few milliseconds at every boundary to prevent it, so when one survives, the fix is to move the cut slightly — to the silence between words rather than the edge of one.
Sound is a wave. Cut it at a point where the wave is far from zero and the join becomes an instant jump, which the ear hears as a tick. This is why every editor fades a handful of milliseconds in and out at a boundary, and Cast does it on every cut without asking.
When a click still gets through, the join is usually inside speech rather than between it — the tail of a consonant, or a breath that starts before the word you removed. Nudging the cut a fraction wider, so it starts and ends in the quiet, removes it.
A cut-off breath is the same problem heard differently: the breath began earlier than you thought and the cut sliced it. Either include the whole breath in the cut or leave it in — half a breath sounds wrong in a way a full one never does.
Nothing here is destructive. The original recording is untouched, so widening or undoing a cut costs you nothing but the click.
