Reggae royalty-free music

Get in touch with the roots of Jamaica. Reggae grew there in the late 1960s, and its offbeat guitar, deep bass and laid-back groove still bring an easy, positive mood.

Where reggae fits

• beach, island and travel videos;
• summer and festival content;
• chill streams and cafe backgrounds;
• positive and community stories.

The reggae groove

The guitar or keys play short chops on the offbeat, known as the skank. The drums often use the one drop, leaving the first beat empty and hitting on the third. Bass carries the melody as much as any instrument, warm and round. Tempos are relaxed, often around 70 to 90 BPM. For beach and travel videos, the easy groove brings a sunny calm. For positive and community stories, the uplifting sound feels friendly and real.

Make a reggae track

Describe it, for example laid-back reggae with offbeat guitar and warm bass for a beach video, and Mubert Render writes an original track. More of the sound is on the Dub page.
