Searching for background music that you can use during your stream can be arduous. A lot of streamers have fallen victim to copyright infringements — for instance, Twitch got notifications from DMCA with around 1,000 individual claims in May.
To help creators, a plethora of startups, from Thematic to Twitch’s Soundtrack, started developing tools that offer copyright-free music.
While Soundtrack was a step forward in helping creators figure out their copyright issues, it still wasn’t sufficient enough. In September, Twitch went further and partnered with NMPA, but this deal mostly benefited musicians, not the streamers.
