Suno MIDI upload arrived on the Create page on November 4, 2026. Pro and Premier subscribers can now drop in a .mid or .midi file, add a text prompt and get a full AI-generated song back, Unite.AI reports<\/a>, while until now Suno’s MIDI tools sat inside Studio, which is Premier only. One catch. At launch it runs on v6-wild, the model Suno itself calls less predictable. Below: how it works, the timeline, the lawsuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suno MIDI upload: what the Create page now takes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the Suno MIDI upload, Create accepts two new file types, .mid and .midi, next to prompts and audio. To upload MIDI, you drag a file onto Create or pick MIDI from Suno’s plus menu. Then you write a prompt, and that prompt decides how literal the result gets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are roughly three settings for literal. You can ask for the part reproduced exactly. You can ask Suno to develop a top-line motif (the main melody, the bit you’d hum) into new ideas. Or you can keep the notes and swap the instruments. So a finished composition can be auditioned, while an eight-bar sketch can become a seed for something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A MIDI file contains no sound at all. It is a list of instructions: which note, when, how hard, for how long. One file can carry up to 16 channels of pitch and timing data, and each channel can hold as many as 120 controller lanes for modulation, volume and sustain, which is a lot of paperwork for a file that makes no noise. Think of a player-piano roll that took an office job. Because the notes are exact, Suno pitches an uploaded MIDI file as a more precise start than other inputs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At launch, every MIDI upload in Suno goes through Simple Create with v6-wild. The release notes<\/a> call v6-wild “less predictable and more varied, producing unexpected, textured and ambitious results.” Precise input, deliberately unpredictable model. We’ll leave that there. Suno says it plans to expand MIDI support over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened so far<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Create upload caps a run that began with a 2024 lawsuit and passed through Suno’s studio app. The first half of the timeline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
