This post is for anyone with 10,000 followers, or close to it, who wants the actual number per 1,000 views. It also covers the eligibility rules, the eight countries where the program runs and the views TikTok counts but never pays for. TikTok publishes no rate. So we give you the reported range with its source and date, then the maths to work out your own.

The calculator above compares what the same views earn on different platforms. It looked at creators who disclosed their payouts and found between $362 and $1,035 per million qualified views. That works out to about $0.36 to $1.04 per 1,000 qualified views.

So 100,000 qualified views land somewhere between $36 and $104. A million lands between $362 and $1,035. Same million, supposedly.

Read the range as a set of reported cases, not a rate card. The figures come from creators who chose to share screenshots, and people having a good month share more screenshots (nobody posts “look, $11”). Nobody outside TikTok sees every creator’s rewards dashboard, so any range is a sample. Yours can sit below it. It can also sit above it, and it can change from one week to the next.

So the honest answer to what TikTok Creator Rewards pays is a range with a date on it. Not a number.

The word doing all the work here is “qualified”. It isn’t a view in the sense of the counter under your video, but a view that passed TikTok’s filters, and plenty of views don’t. More on that below.

TikTok publishes no rate, only a formula

You won’t find a per-view rate on TikTok’s newsroom or help pages. What TikTok does publish is the recipe, without the quantities.

Back when the program was still called the Creativity Program Beta, a TikTok spokesperson told Fortune that rewards are “calculated by accrued video performance based on the average gross revenue and qualified views”.

Then, in its March 18, 2024 announcement of the renamed Creator Rewards Program, TikTok named the four things it weighs. Those are originality, play duration (watch time and how often people finish the video), search value (how well the video matches what people search for) and audience engagement (likes, comments and shares).

That’s the whole public description of how TikTok calculates creator rewards: four ingredients, no quantities.

The result shows up as RPM, short for revenue per mille: what you earned per 1,000 qualified views. In the same announcement TikTok said every video would get its own page in the dashboard with its RPM, trends and insights.

Think of a taxi meter. It only shows the fare once you’re out of the car, and your RPM likewise arrives after the views have already happened. Because RPM depends on ad revenue and on how your particular video performed, two of your videos posted on the same day can earn very different amounts per thousand. That’s normal. It isn’t a sign you’re being punished.

Who qualifies for TikTok Creator Rewards

TikTok’s announcement sets the entry rules for Creator Rewards, and they haven’t moved much since 2023, when the beta opened to US creators with the same follower and view thresholds. To apply you need:

an age of at least 18 (19 in South Korea, per Digiday)

at least 10,000 followers

at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days

a personal account in good standing, so not a business account

to live in a country where the program is available

Meeting the account rules gets you into TikTok Creator Rewards, but it doesn’t make every video pay. Each video has its own entry ticket. TikTok asks for high-quality, original content that runs at least one minute. Originality is also one of the four scoring factors, so reposted clips and compilations of other people’s work have two problems: they may not qualify at all, and when they do, they score badly.

Third-party write-ups don’t always agree on these thresholds. Some list likes instead of views. Others list different countries. The version that matters is the eligibility screen in TikTok Studio on your own account, because that’s the one that decides your application. If it disagrees with a blog, believe the app (and if it disagrees with this blog, believe the app as well).

A qualified view is a view that survived six filters

This is where most of the disappointment comes from. TikTok’s help page on how rewards work defines qualified views as unique views from the For You feed, which is the main recommended feed people scroll. Then it removes six kinds: fraudulent views, paid views, disliked views, promoted views, artificial views and anything watched for less than 5 seconds.

Every one of those still shows on the public counter. None of them reaches your TikTok Creator Rewards balance. A viewer who left after four seconds counts on the counter and earns nothing. Same with a view you bought through Promote, TikTok’s own paid boost. You can’t pay TikTok for views and then have TikTok pay you back for them, though it would be a lovely business model.

There is one widening. TikTok’s Creator Academy page on qualified views says views from Search also count when the viewer watches for at least 30 seconds. That rule sits neatly beside “search value” as a scoring factor. TikTok wants videos that answer something people look up, and it pays for them twice: once in the score, once in the view count.

“Unique” also matters. A fan who watches your video five times is still one view. The fan is lovely. The fan is one view.

So think of the public view counter as a guest book. Everyone who walked past the door signs it, including the people who left before the cake. TikTok pays only for the guests who stayed, arrived from the right room and didn’t come in on a ticket you bought.

The program runs in eight countries, and so do your viewers

TikTok’s Creator Academy lists eight countries for the program: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico. Most older lists show seven, because Mexico joined later. Digiday notes that Canada and Australia don’t have the program, and neither does much of the Middle East, Southeast Asia or Africa.

The second half of the rule catches more people than the first. According to the same Creator Academy page, a view only counts as qualified if it comes from one of the countries where the program is available. Your location gets you into TikTok Creator Rewards. Your viewers’ locations decide what it pays.

Take a creator in Germany whose biggest audience is in Austria and Switzerland. Eligible, yes. The German viewers pay. The Austrian viewers watch exactly the same minute of video, laugh at the same joke, maybe even share it, and earn the creator nothing at all. Or take a US creator who goes viral in Canada: the counter jumps, and the payout barely notices.

That’s why one creator’s RPM can’t predict another’s. Geography sets a large part of the number.

The old Creator Fund paid in coffee money

TikTok built Creator Rewards because the fund before it was famously stingy. Stingy by design, too. The Creator Fund paid out of a fixed pot, so every creator who joined made everyone else’s slice a little smaller. Tubefilter reported that Hank Green earned 2.5 cents per 1,000 views from it. It shut down on December 16, 2023 in the US, UK, Germany and France.

When TikTok moved creators to the replacement, it said they could earn more than 20 times what they made before, according to TechCrunch. That same piece quoted creators who had posted videos with millions of views and been paid “about enough money to buy a coffee”. Compared with 2.5 cents, the reported range above is a real step up.

Still, the early beta was patchy. In a December 2023 Digiday piece, creator Mollie Daniela said more than half of the videos she submitted were disqualified, and that she wasn’t told exactly why. She had earned $33 from the program that year.

A fixed pot shared by a growing crowd is the economics of a birthday cake at an office party. Everyone gets a slice and the slices get thinner every year, until someone suggests buying a second cake and finance says no. Anyway.

Today TikTok pays creator rewards from revenue, not from a pot. The payout still moves, but now it moves with ads and with your video, not with how many other people turned up.

<img decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" class="wp-image-5246 art-light" src="https://mubert.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/illustration-2-light-36-1024x1024.webp" alt="World map with eight countries glowing like paid parking zones and the rest dimmed. The inputs are the tricky part.

Here’s a worked example with made-up inputs. Say you post 20 eligible videos a month and each collects 50,000 qualified views. That’s one million qualified views, so at the reported range the month pays between $362 and $1,035. Halve the views and the pay halves too. No bonus for effort.

We’ll confess the mistake we made the first time we did this on a napkin. We multiplied the public view counter by the top of the reported range. Lovely number. Also wrong.

The counter includes every four-second scroll, every viewer in a country where the program doesn’t run and every promoted view. TikTok doesn’t publish what share of views usually qualify. Your dashboard in TikTok Studio shows both figures for each video, so take the ratio from your own account instead of a guess.

Here is how we’d do it now. Open the program dashboard and note the qualified views and the RPM of your last ten eligible videos, then take the median RPM. Not the best one. Then multiply your typical qualified views per video by the number of minute-long videos you can realistically post in a month.

Comparing TikTok payouts with other platforms

For a sanity check against other apps, put the same numbers into the calculator at the top of this post. For a longer breakdown by platform, we also built a short video earnings calculator that works the same way.

When you compare, compare like with like. Live-stream income works on completely different rules, as the Kick Partner Program fine print shows. Brand deals and TikTok Shop commissions also sit outside this program, so they never appear on the program dashboard.

One practical point. Digiday reports that payouts typically have a $10 minimum in the US and arrive monthly. A few small videos can sit in your balance for a while before anything reaches your bank.

A low payout usually has a boring cause

Before blaming the algorithm, check your TikTok Creator Rewards dashboard for the dull explanations. They’re far more common than a conspiracy.

First, look at length. A video trimmed to 59 seconds in the final edit is a short video. At 60 seconds it’s a business. The rule says at least one minute, and the rule doesn’t round up.

Second, geography. If a video took off in a country outside the eight, the counter will look great and the qualified views won’t. This one hurts most, because the video did everything right except find the right passports.

Third, the intro. A slow intro gets swiped past, and every swipe before five seconds is a view that doesn’t qualify. The fix is boring and it works: put the hook first and the logo later, if at all.

Fourth, originality. Reaction clips, stitched compilations and reposts of your own older videos can all fail on it. Mollie Daniela got no exact reasons for her disqualified videos, so you may never receive a letter explaining which rule you broke. Assume originality is required.

Minute-long videos need minute-long everything

The one-minute rule changes how short videos are made. Slower is not longer. A 20-second idea needs more steps to fill a minute: a second beat, a payoff later on. Because play duration and finish rate are scored, padding is also expensive: viewers leave, the qualified views drop, and so does the RPM.

Music is the part people forget. A track that ends at 0:42 under a 1:04 video leaves 22 seconds of silence or an awkward loop, and both make someone swipe away before the end. We wrote a whole post on making music fit your video length exactly, because fading out a three-minute song at the right moment is harder than it sounds.

Length turns out to be a real issue in our own numbers too. In Mubert’s own data for the last 28 days, about one in five tracks generated in Mubert Render was re-cut to a different duration after the first version. Render composes an original track to the exact length you ask for, from samples that human artists uploaded and are paid for. Licence scope depends on the plan, so read it for your use. It also doesn’t touch TikTok’s originality score, which is about your video, not your soundtrack.

A checklist for TikTok Creator Rewards this week

Open TikTok Studio and check your Creator Rewards eligibility.

Switch to a personal account first.

Find what share of your audience sits in the eight program countries, since views from anywhere else pay nothing.

Log your last ten RPMs.

Recut one strong short idea into a minute that earns its length instead of padding it.

Build one video around a search.

Stop using Promote on videos you want the program to pay for, because promoted views earn nothing.

Score all 60 seconds.

Then post it and watch the guest book fill up. Only count the guests who stayed for the cake.

TikTok publishes no rate.
