An AI song is sitting near the top of the Melon chart, South Korea’s biggest streaming service, and its singer does not exist. The song is “Did You Become the Adult You Dreamed Of?” (\uafc8\uafb8\ub358 \uc5b4\ub978\uc774 \ub418\uc5c8\ub098\uc694?), released on June 23 by music creator Meomureu. It’s a rock ballad about the gap between what you hoped for and what you got. Then it hit No. 3. Suno made the voice. A person wrote the words. The AI song went from Melon chart No. 18 to No. 3 in eleven days<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The climb was fast. This AI song entered the Melon chart at No. 18 on the morning of October 2, then jumped to No. 3 on October 13, according to TV Report<\/a>. Still, Melon wasn’t alone. Xportsnews, in a piece republished in English by The Korea Times<\/a>, reported that the song also reached No. 2 on Genie Music and YouTube Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The views kept pace, too. The YouTube video passed 10 million views, Hankyung reported<\/a>. Seoul Shinmun<\/a> traced the whole arc: released in June, spread by word of mouth in September, then about ten days from No. 18 to No. 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this AI song isn’t a novelty that got lucky on the Melon chart for one hour. Instead, it’s a slow burn. People kept replaying it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A week later, the AI song is still up there. It stood at No. 3 on the Melon Top 100 at 1 p.m. on October 20, Chosunbiz reported<\/a>, citing Melon. On the weekly chart for October 12 to 18 it placed No. 4, up from No. 93 on the September monthly chart. Chosunbiz’s English headline says the song “tops Korea charts”. Yet on the Melon Top 100 its best reported position is still No. 3. It did hit No. 1 elsewhere, Ilgan Sports reported<\/a>. It topped YouTube’s daily popular music video chart on September 2 and Bugs’ real-time chart by early October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The voice came from Suno, and the creator said so<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The interesting part is how little the AI did, at least on paper. Meomureu stated in the song’s description that the vocals were completed with Suno. Planning, lyrics and production stayed with a human. By that note, only the voice was AI. Nobody hid it. Actually, the disclosure sat in the release notes the whole time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On social media, Meomureu called AI “a modern instrument and a partner that turns imagination into reality”. That’s a fairly calm way to describe a robot singing your diary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyunghyang Shinmun has since named the people behind it. Meomureu is a project of Gloryweave, the songwriting team of Lee Yong-seok and Choi Seong-hyeok. They have worked with singers such as Gilgu Bonggu and Hwang Chi-yeul for more than ten years, the paper reported<\/a>. Their account goes further than the release note. The lyrics are human, but AI did the basic composition as well as the singing. They also work in loops. They sometimes pull a Suno result into production software, sing a melody again or fix the structure, then feed it back. Wikitree<\/a> and Dong-A Ilbo<\/a> also say AI shaped the melody, not only the voice. That matters later, when a platform has to pick a badge for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listeners are split as well. Many only found out afterwards that the vocals were AI-generated. Some say the song comforted them anyway, because the words hit home, while others say they can’t fully connect with a voice that never had a bad day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
