After watching our Skillbox course, you will know how to make money from creating samples

Creating samples is a big trend, but there is a deficit of online courses on the specifics of this craft. Mubert partnered with Skillbox to release a course on making commercial sample packs.

Creating and producing samples and loops is becoming a big trend: the DIY artist field made approximately $821 million in 2019, per MIDiA Research, and the number continues to grow. With sample marketplaces like Splice, Sounds.com, Loopmasters and Producerloops, producers are given the opportunity to monetize their skills. According to Music Business Worldwide, Splice paid $11 million to artists in the first nine months of 2020.

Mubert also has its own marketplace, Mubert Orders, which launched in 2018. Making it easy for sound designers and musicians to upload sounds and earn revenue, Mubert then uses these sounds to generate new royalty-free music.

Making loops historically was a job for top-tier professionals, but these platforms have made it possible for any musician to produce a sample from their bedroom at home. However, even though producing samples and loops has been getting a lot of attention given its accessibility (which proved to be lucrative during lockdown) and monetization aspects, there is still a deficit of online courses that educate artists on the specifics of this craft.

One of the core interests for Mubert is taking part in educational activities, from streaming webinars and recording videos to writing manuals and organizing workshops, which is why Mubert partnered with Skillbox, one of the biggest Russian edtech platforms, to release a course on making commercial sample packs and construction kits.

If you want to monetize your production skills by making loops and sample packs, there are a myriad of fundamentals you need to know and keep in mind. Packed into six hours, the class was recorded with two top creators — Vlad Kistner and Ilya Nasyrov — who both have produced more than 20,000 loops for Mubert in about 250 sample packs. They know how to make sounds and how to process them correctly, which is why they are sharing their valuable experience with you. Being taught and supported by teachers, you will cover every aspect of producing your sample packs and generating income: from translating the mood and atmosphere in a track and mixing samples to LUFS and other standards. Because Skillbox cares for its students and always tries to help with finding a job “post-graduation,” you can upload your completed work onto Mubert Orders and start making money right after completing this course. While the curriculum is based on creating sounds for Mubert, the core principles can be applied to other platforms, too.

If you have been waiting for a sign to master — both literally and figuratively — the art of and earn income from creating sample packs and royalty-free music for podcasts, films, video games and more, this is it. At the same time, if you are an educator or representative of an educational organization, Mubert is open to collaborating on creating a course about Mubert Studio.
